A white squirrel was photographed near a house in Edinburgh, UK, on Saturday. Compared to sightings of other squirrels in the country, this an unusual situation, since white squirrels with red eyes, the result of albinism, are rare.

Albinism affects around one in a million grey squirrels, as about 50 white squirrels are thought to live in the country. According to the Daily Mail, the chances of a squirrel being born white are about one in 100,000.

The 51-year-old Richard Waugh who took the photos said that the critter has become a regular visitor to the trees near his house and he sometimes scatters nuts out for it.

Waugh said he has named the squirrel Lexy.
