At least 30 people were killed and over 24 others wounded after a suicide car bomb hit a military camp in Ghazni city, capital of Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni province, on Sunday, Baz Mohammad Hemat, director of Ghazni hospital, confirmed.

One suicide bomber was killed after detonating an explosive-laden vehicle roughly at 7:37 a.m. local time on Sunday along a road connecting Ghazni city and neighboring Dih Yak district.

The targeted camp belonged to the Public Protection Police Forces, according to a local official. All of the victims are security personnel.

Another bombing on Sunday, in Afghanistan's southern Zabul province, targeting a top provincial official, also claimed at least two lives in the latest in a string of targeted attacks.

"A car packed with explosives was blown up early Sunday morning when a vehicle carrying Zabul Provincial Council Chief Ata Jan Haqbayan was passing by the area close to the provincial police office compound, leaving two people dead and 23 others wounded," Hekmat Kochay, provincial police chief, was quoted as saying by Xinhua News Agency.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks yet.

Afghanistan has seen a spate of car bombings over the last few months, despite peace talks being underway between negotiation teams of the Taliban and the government in the Qatari capital of Doha.
