The United States has reported a total of 13,220,516 COVID-19 infections as of 6:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, with 158,152 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, according to Johns Hopkins University's latest tally.
The country has seen over 100,000 daily new cases for the 26th consecutive day, the university's data showed. On Friday, it recorded more than 200,000 new cases for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.
The novel coronavirus also claimed 1,254 more lives in the previous 24-hour period, raising the U.S. death toll to 265,938.
