East China's Shandong Province reported one new asymptomatic case of COVID-19 in Qingdao's Jiaozhou City, the local health authority said on Tuesday.

Li, 30, who works at an aquatic products company, tested positive during regular nucleic acid testing on Monday.

The novel coronavirus was also detected on the outer packaging of imported seafood which Li handled. The batch of contaminated seafood has been sealed.

As many as 486 samples have been collected from his close contacts for testing. The first round of 478 results came out all negative. An epidemiological investigation into the new case has been launched.
