An hour-long test flight of the Boeing 737 MAX with media onboard on Wednesday safely landed in Tulsa, Oklahoma from Dallas, Texas.

After being grounded for 20 months following two deadly crashes, U.S. air safety officials in mid-November cleared the aircraft to return to service following changes to the plane and pilot training protocols.

American Airlines is planning an initial commercial flight on December 29.
