Escape rooms are gaining steam among Chinese youth.

The popular pastime involves a series of puzzles or clues that players must solve before advancing to the next stage. Today, a unique version of this game has a growing following in China. Escape room puzzles, mixed with traditional Chinese elements and a dash of immersive theater or role play offer players a fresh experience.

Here, INXmedia is likely to be a good example, aiming to bring their players emotional story lines rather than rational ones. According to the founder, Brian Zhu, they want people to enjoy the process of experiencing the story. Meanwhile, on top of the games, players are able to enjoy some of the most traditional cultural experiences in the culture-oriented escape room, such as pen crafting, Chinese chess, and the Book of Songs. With the integration of Chinese culture, this kind of immersive escape rooms are likely to be the new big thing.
