The COVID-19 alert level in two local streets in Jalainur District in Manzhouli City, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was moved up to medium from low on Friday, local authorities said.

As of Friday morning, a total of 24 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were found in Manzhouli, a border city with Russia, along with two suspected cases and one asymptomatic. 

Strict anti-COVID-19 restrictions will be adopted in areas classified as medium alert level. Indoor venues for entertainment and leisure will be advised to close while essential businesses will cut operation time and gatherings will not be allowed.
