The Chinese mainland on Thursday registered 17 new COVID-19 cases, including two locally transmitted cases in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and 15 from overseas, announced the National Health Commission on Friday.
A total of 12 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were recorded, while 249 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. No COVID-19-related deaths were reported on Thursday, and 12 patients were discharged from hospitals.
As of Thursday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 86,584, with 4,634 fatalities.
The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao SARs and the Taiwan region are as follows:
Hong Kong: 6,589 (5,423 recoveries, 111 deaths)
Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)
Taiwan: 686 (572 recoveries, seven deaths)
