December 4 is China's National Constitution Day. The State Council Information Office held a press conference on National Constitution Awareness Week 2020 on Friday, when the day was marked for the seventh time.

Tang Yijun, deputy director of the Office of the Central Committee for the Rule of Law, Minister of Justice, and director of the National Office for Law Popularization, said that the country's primary and secondary schools are generally equipped with deputy principals and counselors for the rule of law, and 15 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) have achieved 100 percent deployment.

In addition, the country will carry out accurate law popularization, change the law popularization from "overflow irrigation" to "precise drip irrigation," use new media and new technologies to carry out smart law popularization, and make better use of the internet for innovative popularization of law.

Tang said that law popularization is about to go through a 35-year journey and has achieved historic achievements. The concept of the rule of law in the whole society has been significantly enhanced, and the level of legalization of social governance has been significantly improved.

"The education of law has been incorporated into the national education system to further promote the youth's knowledge of the law," he added.

When asked about the exchanges and cooperation between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Chinese Mainland in the judicial field in recent years, Tang said that the Ministry of Justice maintains and deepens the communication and exchanges with the Hong Kong Department of Justice, the Correctional Services Department, the Law Society and other judicial and legal organizations and personnel in the region, providing guarantees for deepening cooperation in the rule of law in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
