The third Hainan Island International Film Festival kicked off on Saturday in Sanya City. It's the first movie festival to roll out the red carpet in China this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

This year's event is co-sponsored by the China Media Group and the Hainan provincial government. Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi is an ambassador for the event. A total of 189 movies from dozens of countries will be shown. 15 outstanding overseas films will also be selected for online screening.
