A 4K documentary "2020 China Fights," which tells the story of how hard Chinese people worked against the COVID-19 pandemic, held its world premiere on Sunday at the 3rd Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) in Sanya, south China's Hainan Province.
Made by China Media Group (CMG) and Hainan's Publicity Department, the documentary is based on tens of thousands of hours of videos filmed by CMG reporters and cameramen.
"The documentary tells the story through the eyes of three ordinary people: a doctor, a volunteer and a young native Wuhan girl. We also used some of the videos internet users uploaded online during the epidemic," said Wang Xinjian, the film's producer.
A 25-minute film clip was released at the premiere. Viewers were moved to tears by some touching moments experienced during the special period in central China's Wuhan City, the former epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic in China.
The 90-minute film is the world's first 4K documentary on people's fight against the pandemic. It has both artistic and historical value.
"Chinese people have worked so hard to fight against COVID-19. The premiere is the best way for us to commemorate that special period," said Fu Xuanguo, deputy minister of Hainan's Publicity Department.
