The Chinese mainland on Saturday registered 18 new COVID-19 cases, including one locally transmitted case in Tianjin and 17 from overseas, the National Health Commission announced on Sunday.

Two new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were recorded, while 234 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. No COVID-19-related deaths were reported on Saturday, and 12 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 86,619, with 4,634 fatalities as of Saturday.

The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao SARs and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 6,802 (5,511 recoveries, 112 deaths)

Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 693 (574 recoveries, seven deaths)
