The novel coronavirus has been found on packaging of frozen shrimp imported from Ecuador in Fuqing City, east China's Fujian Province, local health authorities reported on Sunday.

The nucleic acid tests came back positive after some imported Ecuadorian shrimp packaging was tested for the virus, the authorities said.

The province has temporarily detained the goods before entering the market, officials added, and relevant people have also been quarantined for observation.

As of now, a total of 215 close contacts have tested negative for COVID-19, while other 11 relevant personnel were under medical observation.
