Once an unlucky tree is eyed by a strangler fig in the rainforest in south China's Hainan Province, it's unlikely to escape from the evil claws. The growing aerial roots of these stranglers wrap around the victim from base to top, gradually keeping any nutrients away, leaving the tree to slowly wither.
