Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Monday night reported one more locally transmitted COVID-19 case, local authorities said.

The latest case, a 71-year-old man, is the husband of the COVID-19 patient confirmed earlier in the day.

The 69-year-old woman, surnamed Lu, tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday and was later diagnosed as a confirmed COVID-19 patient, the provincial health commission said.

The village accommodating the couple has been classified as a medium-risk area for COVID-19 starting 9:00 p.m. BJT Monday, local authorities said.

As of 8:00 p.m. BJT, the city had taken samples from 21,615 people and 1,827 of the samples had been tested for COVID-19. Results showed no positive cases other than the 71-year-old man, Chengdu municipal government announced on Monday night.
