The Chinese mainland recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases on Monday – two locally transmitted in southwest China's Sichuan Province and 10 from abroad, the National Health Commission announced on Tuesday.

Five new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were recorded, while 219 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. No COVID-19 deaths were reported on Monday, while 13 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 86,646, with 4,634 deaths, as of Monday.

The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 6,975 (5,626 recoveries, 112 deaths)

Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 716 (574 recoveries, 7 deaths)
