China's Chengdu samples 739,000 people for COVID-19

Chengdu, the capital city of southwest China's Sichuan Province, has sampled 739,000 people for COVID-19 after the city reported four new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and one asymptomatic case on Tuesday, local authorities said on Wednesday.

Local officials said at a press briefing that a total of 399,300 people have undergone nucleic acid tests for COVID-19 in Chengdu so far, all tested negative apart from the latest confirmed cases.

The city reported zero new confirmed or asymptomatic cases from 9 p.m. local time Tuesday to 6 p.m. local time Wednesday, officials said.
