Three-year-old giant panda Xiang Xiang, born at Ueno Zoological Gardens in Tokyo on June 12, 2017, will say goodbye to Japanese fans and return to China by the end of this year.

The panda's name was chosen from more than 320,000 suggestions that people sent to the zoo. Xiang Xiang was originally scheduled to return to China when she turned two, but the date was pushed to the end of 2020.
