A theme park with self-driving vehicles will open on January 1, 2021, inside Longlingshan Park in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. /CFP

A total of 19 self-driving vehicles are currently being tested in the park, including self-driving shuttle buses, taxis and cleaning trucks, automated vending vehicles and mobile libraries. /CFP

It will be the first time self-driving technology is used in a park in China. /CFP

An engineer with the company that develops automated vending vehicles said that tourists can wave to vending vehicles, holding 128 bottles each. /CFP

According to Zhu Jianyang, the operator, the park and 106 kilometers of roads nearby are connected to the 5G network. "The park is just the beginning. We are expecting more chances to integrate self-driving technology into people's life and allow residents to experience the convenience and safety of smart travel," said Zhu. /CFP
