The Chinese mainland recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, including three locally transmitted cases, the National Health Commission announced on Tuesday.

The local transmissions included two cases reported in Heilongjiang Province and one in Sichuan Province.

Eight new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were recorded, while 196 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation. No COVID-19 deaths were reported on Monday, and 18 patients were discharged from hospitals.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 86,758, with 4,634 deaths as of Saturday.

The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 7,623 (6,266 recoveries, 120 deaths)

Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)

Taiwan: 740 (606 recoveries, 7 deaths)
