Authorities in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality discovered COVID-19 on Wednesday on packaging of frozen beef imported from Brazil, according to local health authorities.

The municipality has temporarily detained the goods before entering the market, officials added, and relevant people have also been quarantined for observation.

As of 20:00 Beijing Time on Thursday, a total of 12 close contacts have tested negative for COVID-19.
