The novel coronavirus has been found on packaging of frozen beef imported from Brazil in Anshan City, northeast China's Liaoning Province, local health authorities reported on Thursday.

The nucleic acid tests came back positive after some imported Brazilian beef packaging was tested for the virus, the authorities said.

The province has temporarily detained the goods before entering the market, officials added, and relevant people have also been quarantined for observation.

As of now, a total of 11 close contacts have tested negative for COVID-19.
