Authorities in the city of Wuxi in east China's Jiangsu Province, discovered COVID-19 on imported frozen hairtail packaging during regular testing of imported cold chain food products, local health authorities said Thursday.

According to the city's disease prevention and control center, the sample for the positive test was taken from the outer packaging of frozen hairtail imported from Myanmar.

Local authorities have closed off the refrigeration house, disinfected related areas, and conducted nucleic acid tests on relevant personnel who had direct contact with the food.

So far, 17 people who had direct contact with the food have been put under quarantine and they all tested negative for COVID-19.
