President Xi promotes four Chinese officers to the rank of general

Four senior Chinese military and armed police officers have been promoted to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service in China.

President Xi Jinping, also chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), presented the officers with certificates of order signed by him at a ceremony held in Beijing on Friday.

The four promoted officers are Guo Puxiao, Political Commissar of the Logistic Support Department of the CMC, Zhang Xudong, Commander of the Western Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), Li Wei, Political Commissar of the PLA Strategic Support Force, and Wang Chunning, Commander of the People's Armed Police Force (PAP).

Vice Chairman Xu Qiliang of the CMC read the promotion orders at the ceremony, which was presided over by CMC vice chairman Zhang Youxia.

CMC members Wei Fenghe, Li Zuocheng, Miao Hua, and Zhang Shengmin also attended the ceremony.
