The U.S. approved the use of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine, with distribution to start immediately, U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday on Twitter.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not yet authorized emergency use of the vaccine.

An advisory panel voted Thursday to recommend the FDA authorize Moderna's vaccine for emergency use.
