Chinese mainland reports 23 new COVID-19 cases

The Chinese mainland on Saturday recorded 23 new COVID-19 cases, one locally-transmitted and 22 from overseas, the National Health Commission announced on Sunday. 

The single local infection was reported in Dalian City of northeast China's Liaoning Province. The male patient, a chef and restaurant owner, was a close contact of one asymptomatic person in the city; he tested positive during group quarantine. 

Ten new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were also recorded, while 205 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.  

No COVID-19 deaths were registered on Saturday. Meanwhile, 21 patients were discharged from hospitals. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 86,829, with 4,634 deaths.

The total confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:  

Hong Kong: 8,078 (6,737 recoveries, 129 deaths)

Macao: 46 (46 recoveries)  

Taiwan: 763 (625 recoveries, 7 deaths)
