Expert: Mutated virus means the number of cases will increase more quickly than before
02:18

Dr. Harry Hull, an infectious disease epidemiologist from the U.S. state of Nevada, shares his view on the new mutated virus. He says that this new virus makes the proteins that attach the virus to our cells being shaped slightly differently. Mutation makes it easier for the virus to be spread from one person to another. Therefore the number of cases will increase more quickly than before. The mutated virus does not appear to be more lethal than the current strain. It appears the mutant virus is not resistant to vaccines. It is very important to keep wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
