Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved the composition of the Russian Federation State Council and will serve as its head, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported on Monday.

The State Council consists of the prime minister, governors, speakers of the State Duma and the Federation Council, plenipotentiaries, and leaders of parliamentary parties, said the report.

The State Council is an advisory body that assists the president in guaranteeing coordinated functioning of and interactions between the various state bodies.
