Chagan Lake, often referred to as Sacred Lake or Holy Water Lake, is located in Northeast China's Jilin Province. The lake is famed for its annual Winter Fishing Festival, the only place where the oldest of Mongolian fishing methods is preserved. To better protect the festival and tradition, fishermen use nets with bigger holes to ensure that baby fishes could escape, helping sustain the fishing population.
