Dropping temperatures have led to layers of ice atop the Yellow River in northern China's Shanxi Province. Floating ice blocks have become packed and frozen together at the river's Hukou Waterfall, spreading a total length of 4.5 kilometers. Local officials say some of the frozen parts are 8 meters thick. It is so packed in, that only a small section of running water is still visible. From a bird's eye view, the Yellow River has become like a frozen white dragon, snaking across the landscape.
