The Asia-Pacific headquarters of China Media Group (CMG), as well as its Hong Kong and Macao correspondent bureaus, were officially inaugurated on Saturday.

CMG President Shen Haixiong delivered a speech at the opening ceremony in Macao, pointing out that the world today is undergoing profound changes, and the Asia-Pacific region is playing an increasingly important role in geopolitics and world economic development.

"Media is the disseminator of friendly exchanges, the promoter of cooperation, and the watchman of harmonious coexistence. Relying on the Asia-Pacific headquarters, CMG will be a bridge between China and its neighbors, as well as a bridge between Asia-Pacific region and the world," said Shen.

Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region Ho Iat Seng welcomed the establishment of the Asia-Pacific headquarters.

"The establishment of CMG Asia-Pacific headquarters will open a new chapter for the integration and coordination of overseas resources in the Asia-Pacific region," he said, "and bring a new round of development for accurate communication linking Hong Kong, Macao, Southeast Asia, and even the regions along the Belt and Road."

Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Tung Chee-hwa, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam and other officials sent congratulations via video. 

Heads of relevant departments of the headquarters and those of the Macao Special Administrative Region also attended the opening ceremony.
