One of the historical causes for America's racism has to do with the notion of Caucasian superiority, which mainly arose following the Age of Enlightenment period in Europe and spread through nationalism, colonialism and imperialism to the Americas. Along with this, was the rise of capitalism in the U.S. market society, which disproportionately exploits those who are weakest socioeconomically, especially minorities.
