The novel coronavirus has been found on packaging of frozen shrimp imported from Ecuador in Xiangyang City, central China's Hubei Province, local health authorities announced on Sunday.

The nucleic acid tests came back weak positive after some imported Ecuadorian shrimp packaging was tested for the virus, the authorities said.

The goods have been sealed and relevant people quarantined for observation, officials added.

Further epidemiological investigation is underway.
