Two villages in Beijing's Shunyi District have upgraded their coronavirus risk level to medium, local authorities said on Sunday, after five new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in the district on Saturday. 

A total of 424 close contacts of the five cases were traced. As of 3:00 p.m. BJT on Sunday, medical workers had taken throat swab samples from a total of 838,270 people in Shunyi District; so far 389,294 of the tests have come back negative.

Three areas in Beijing have lifted their coronavirus risk levels to medium.

In the past 14 days, a total of nine cases have been reported in Beijing, said authorities.
