Thousands of doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine were distributed around Italy as the nation started its mass vaccination program.

After the first volunteers received the vaccine at a Rome hospital, 9,750 doses were distributed around the country, including to northern Lombardy.
