Record-breaking 41,600 black-headed gulls reach Kunming for wintering
CGTN

About 41,600 black-headed gulls have arrived in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, to spend winter.

The number has beaten all previous records, according to Kunming Municipal Forestry and Grassland Bureau and the Kunming Ornithological Society.

The black-headed gull has a chocolate-brown head with red bill and legs. Its head turns dark only during the breeding season.

From afar, one can only see that they are white with dark brown spots on the side.
