China announced on Thursday that it has granted conditional marketing authorization for its first domestically-developed COVID-19 vaccine. The inactivated vaccine was developed by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd. According to the National Medical Products Administration, the vaccine has a 79.34-percent efficacy against COVID-19, meeting the World Health Organization and the State Food and Drug Administration standards. The COVID-19 vaccine will be offered free to citizens.
