India's drug regulator on Friday approved a coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University for emergency use, according to Reuters citing two sources with knowledge of the matter.
India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has yet to make an official announcement.
India is the second hardest-hit country by COVID-19 after the U.S. with more than 10 million confirmed cases so far.
The AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine has already been approved for urgent public use in the UK and Argentina.
