Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, celebrates the first day of 2021 with a fireworks display. The city was put under lockdown from late January to early April in 2020 with the outbreak of COVID-19. Today, Wuhan and its 11 million residents are slowly returning to normal life that streets are bustling and children are returning to school, and no new local infections have been reported in more than eight months. Residents are consciously wearing face masks and showing government-assigned QR codes on their cell phone to go back to work and to get around to many places.
