The Chinese mainland recorded 22 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, of which eight were locally transmitted and 14 from overseas, the National Health Commission said on Saturday.

Seven domestic cases in Liaoning Province and one in Beijing were reported.

Nineteen new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were also recorded, while 279 asymptomatic patients remained under medical observation.

No COVID-19 deaths were registered on Friday. Meanwhile, nine patients were discharged from hospitals. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in China reached 87,093, and the death toll stands at 4,634.

The total number of confirmed infections in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:

Hong Kong: 8,888 (7,912 recoveries, 149 deaths)

Macao: 46 (46 recoveries) 

Taiwan: 802 (682 recoveries, 7 deaths)
