Real Madrid beat an in-form Celta Vigo 2-0 at home on Saturday thanks to a goal and assist apiece from Spanish pair Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio, putting the side above city rivals Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga.
The win took the Spanish champions to the summit on 36 points, one ahead of second-placed Atletico who have three games in hand.

"We said before the game that after slipping up against Elche, we wanted to show our usual aggression and win the ball back high up the pitch," said Vazquez.
"Right now, every game is key, we are on a good run, we didn't expect to draw the other day but the team is in good shape and if we keep playing like this we'll be fighting for everything."

In the Premier League, a rare Kieran Tierney goal, a superb team effort finished by Bukayo Saka and a brace from Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal their third Premier League win in a row as they beat the Baggies, West Bromwich Albion, 4-0 in snowy conditions on Saturday.
"We had a big week, three games in seven days, and we managed to win them and everything looks much better. It was difficult conditions but the team looked sharp from the start. It's a big win," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said after the match as quoted by the BBC Sports.

"After the results we had before we had to lift things straight away. Now we have got some discipline back. We look more creative in the final third and we look solid at the back."
The win lifts Arsenal to 11th place in the table on 23 points, six points off the European places. West Brom remain second from bottom with eight points after 17 games.

In the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig climbed to the top of the German football league after Dani Olmo's second-half strike earned them a 1-0 victory at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.
Bayer Leverkusen dropped to third following a 2-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt as action resumed in the league following a brief Christmas break.
Leipzig are on 31 points after 14 games, one ahead of Bayern Munich, who face second-from-bottom Mainz on Sunday, and three clear of third-placed Leverkusen.
