Social distancing rules in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will be extended by another two weeks till January 20, the SAR government announced on Monday.
Meanwhile, the temporary suspension of in-person classes for kindergartens, primary and middle schools will also be extended till the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, which falls in the middle of February.
Hong Kong recorded 53 new infections of COVID-19 on Sunday, of which 43 were locally transmitted, the Center for Health Protection said on Monday, taking the region's total cases to 9,017.
Out of the new local cases, six have unknown sources, the authorities added.
