A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Monday accused Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council of making groundless accusations about the mainland's COVID-19 vaccines, after it "warned" Taiwan people on the mainland about "risks" connected with the mainland's vaccines.

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said safety and effectiveness are top concerns when developing COVID-19 vaccines, adding that the protective efficacy of current vaccines on the mainland meet international standards.

Zhu added that the mainland pays close attention to the safety and health of Taiwan people on the mainland and will arrange for them to receive vaccines on a voluntary basis.
