The U.S. Capitol building has been secured, said local police, hours after rioters stormed the seat of government and entered the lawmakers' chambers.

The woman who was shot inside the building during riots on Wednesday afternoon was pronounced dead at the hospital, reported CNN citing a spokesperson with the Metropolitan Police Department.

Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert Contee said at least 13 people were arrested amid the riots.
