Despite the pandemic, 2020 was an extraordinary year for China. Led by President Xi Jinping, China scored solid progress in poverty alleviation, and in November, southwestern Guizhou Province cleared all its regions off the poverty list. China has lifted all of its 832 poor counties out of poverty, marking the completion of the mission to end absolute poverty in the country.
