On Thursday, the Chinese mainland reported 33 new COVID-19 cases in Hebei Province, after 19 locally infected cases and 40 asymptomatic cases were firmed between January 2 and 4, local authorities said.

All kindergartens, primary and middle schools in the provincial capital suspended in-person classes starting Wednesday, the municipal education bureau said.
