- Three men, including a newly elected state official in West Virginia, were charged in federal court in connection with the Capitol violence, according to the U.S. attorney's office for the District of Columbia.
One of the men, Jacob Anthony Chansley was identified as the man seen in media coverage who entered the Capitol building dressed in horns, a bearskin headdress, red, white and blue face paint, shirtless, and tan pants.
- At least two Seattle police officers were put on administrative leave as the Seattle Police Department investigates whether they took part in Wednesday's riot at the U.S. Capitol.
The department's chief, Adrian Diaz said any officer found to have taken part in the mob will be immediately fired.
- Democratic members of the House of Representatives will introduce formal articles of impeachment on Monday, the second impeachment of U.S. President Donald Trump. The text has been signed by at least 180 members of Congress so far, according to Democratic congressman Ted Lieu.
Previously, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has warned that Democrats will launch the process unless Trump resigns or Vice President Mike Pence invokes the 25th Amendment, where the cabinet removes the president.
