'Little phoenixes' look for food in North China snow
00:45

A flock of "little phoenixes" were spotted in a forest in Yicheng County, northern China's Shanxi Province. The majestic birds are golden pheasants, or rainbow pheasants, a typical Chinese bird replete with colorful feathers. They fly in short bursts and prefer to spend most of their time on the ground. They feed on grain, leaves, insects and worms. The species is under China's second-class national protection for wild animals.
