In March 2018, Wang Hui was appointed as first secretary of Shengli Village in Dahua Yao Autonomous County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. By developing cattle breeding and planting and processing Canna indica, Wang and her team members have helped lift 3,081 people from 560 households out of poverty. Wang said that the ultimate purpose of poverty alleviation is to change the mindset of poor people.
