Malaysian king declares state of emergency to curb spread of COVID-19

Malaysia's King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah declared a national state of emergency to curb the spread of COVID-19, the National Palace said in a statement.

The state of emergency will last until August 1 or earlier depending on whether COVID-19 cases can be curbed, the statement added.
